I made these free 4 Digit Addition with Regrouping worksheets for teachers and parents who want to give their students more practice with adding larger numbers. Sometimes students know how to add 2 digit or 3 digit numbers, but when they start working with 4 digit numbers they still make mistakes, especially when they need to regroup more than once in the same problem. With these worksheets students can practice adding numbers in columns and learn how to carry numbers from one place value to the next.
When adding 4 digit numbers with regrouping, students need to start from the ones place and move to the tens, hundreds, and thousands. If the sum in one column is 10 or more, they have to regroup and carry the extra value to the next column. Some students forget to add the carried number, which can make their final answer incorrect.
